"The Ballad Of Jose and Eddie"

I spent about five hours working on all of the little wire people and getting them just right, the spinning wheel I found in an art closet and decided it'd be the best setting for the wire people. The wire was really difficult to work with this time around because not only was it much thicker than the previous spools of wire, but it was also sanitized making it all kind of greasy and just a pain to deal with. I was pretty happy with the end result and I think it lends itself well to photography. I really liked all of my little people but I do think the female wire person could have been better. I really liked working with the human form and then totally wrecking it, this really reflects my abstract point of view and helped me expand it. While I feel this gets an A for effort, I think this is a bit more of a be mainly because of the ratio between amount of things I actually made and the end picture

Still Life-"Tuberous Root"

For this project I really wanted to sculpt a semi-anatomically accurate heart, I did so out of clay once again. The bike pump I found at a good will. I put duck tape on t and ripped it off to wear away at the paint and put the tube into the back of the heart. One of my favorite parts was adding the vein details to the heart. This was for the still life project and my only regret is not having someone draw it as their project. I was really happy with the heart and that only took me about an hour and a half to sculpt. Overall I really liked how this one turned out, with the positioning and visual contrast, and the bike pump is my favorite gadget on the planet. I feel like I honed my sculpting abilities with this piece and worked on what looks good while photographing objects. This one really feels like an A worthy project.

"Some Kind of Addiction"

I found a manikin hand and covered it in aluminum tape, wore it down, and the wrapped wires around it and created the smoke effects around it. Then I spent awhile painting it getting some of the values right. This one only took me about 2 hours to make. I really liked using the aluminum tape to create the meta effect. B

"Thought Pogonia"

This was one of the sculptures I did over the summer. I found the foam blocks at a craft store and instantly wanted to use them. One of the prompts in the summer homework was to use 50 found objects, I decided to be all tricky and use 50 words instead. I printed the words out and glued the onto the foam mass I created. The wires were meant to give it the look of a comic book thought bubble. This took me about three hours to get just right. This really got me into using words in my art and really was a great start to the year. I feel that this was very successful and is equal to an A

Nonobjective, "Who will replace you?"

I think of myself as an abstract artist so the non objective piece we had to do was right up my alley. I love working with wire so I decided to make a whole wire obelisk. The speech bubble was card stock and paint, this was the first time I have painted since grade school so I was a little rusty.this one took me about five hour to make, it was a lot of wrapping wires over wires for a while. I really like the shape of it all and how the speech bubble sets on the face. I really enjoined incorporating poetry directly into the art. The paintig is a little rough but I really feel like this one is an A.

Repetition, "Scream for me"

The task was to create repetition of organic objects. The same day I made a doodle on my homework that inspired me to do this. In this case I repented mouths. Along with bugs, robots, organs, and fetuses, mouths are one of my weird artistic muses. I used clay for this one again but I didn't want to deal with all of the wire so I made it more flat. I also like drawing and making tongues/screaming. This one took me about 2 and a half hours without drying time for the clay. It was rough trying to keep the teeth all together and not have the tongues snap in half. The edges of this one is a little rough but I adore the concept and overall look. I especially love the main lower mouth and the position of all of the tongues. This one really showcased my artistic view and what I think is cool. As a whole, while I love this one it is a little rough and I feel is a B.

Self portrait, "I look weird"

I used clay to sculpt this very accurate version of my noggin. This was for the self portrait project and I can honestly say I can't draw or sculpt humans very realistically, nor do I really like to. So I took my face and exaggerated a wee bit and tried to keep my abstract style in there. The head so became too heavy and I had to insert a whole spine of aluminum wire to reinforce the neck. This project took me about four hours, ten plus if you include drying time. The clay was very forgiving and could be manipulated very well, I have Sasquatch hands so that helps too. Trying to balance the wire and not break the whole thing was the hard part, there were a few close calls. I'm pretty happy with the outcome of this sculpture, I think it really reflects my artistic style and helped me get a start with working with clay. The nose is magnificent but I'm most happy with the hair and the details on it. I feel this is A quality work, it's a little messy but that's a part of my style to an extent.
